This consummate pianist has entertained in many multi-national hotels and clubs both as an entertainer and with his famous orchestra.

Making his Home in Port Orchard Washington - A small hamlet about an hour from Seattle where he enjoys hiking, swimming, and horseback riding- Coolen has performed throughout the Northwest area in such venues as the Sorrento Hotel, Edgewater, Four Seasons, Meany Hotel, Red Lyon, Marriot, Top of the Town, Grovner House, Westin Hotel, and El Gaucho’s in Tacoma.

His pleasant, outgoing personality and diverse talent are qualities, which endear this charismatic musician not only to audiences but also to all members of his orchestra.

Dick Coolen not only performs  throughout the Northwest as a Dance and Show band but has taken his Orchestra  to various states and countries playing music from timeless artists such as: Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie, Les Brown, Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole and many pop artist like Jimmy Buffett, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and to these add those beautiful Latin Songs of Luis Miguel and Xavior Cugat to his repertoire, played on his Marimba.

His easy going style puts all audiences in a mood to have fun because his ability to answer requests and even compose on the spot a song for someone's birthday, name or anniversary!

He brings a large selection of songs from not only Swing, Jazz, Country, Latin, Broadway Show Tunes, Classical, but also songs from the British Music Hall along with many ethnic songs. He enjoys talking and singing to and with those around him, and has been given the nick name "Joe Friendly"
