When most people think of Greek music, they imagine the clear waters of the Aegean and Zorba dancing with his arms extended to embrace all the world has to offer. What many people don't know is that Greek music is incredibly diverse - as diverse as the people of the Balkans themselves and that the music ranges from the raw village sound of diaphonic singing, to raucous brass bands, to sophistated dance music featuring instruments common throughout Turkey and the Middle East. The people of PANGEO have been drawn together by a love of this music and a desire to share it with Greeks and non-Greeks alike. PANGEO is a five member ensemble presenting the music of Greece and the Balkans including diverse intrumentation of the violin, clarinet, guitar, accordion, bouzouki, traditional singing plus a variety of percussion instruments.
