The Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band . . . is the flagship of the Northwest Traditional Dixieland Jazz bands. Started in 1971, it has performed continuously since that time now appearing at over 25 festivals and concerts annually throughout the United Stated and abroad. Major festivals include The Sacramento Jazz Jubilee, Sun Valley Swing & Dixie, The Great Connecticut Jazz Festival, San Diego Jazz Festival and Pismo Beach Jazz. The full seven piece band has a worldwide reputation having performed in Japan, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Mexico and Canada. On the local front, ULJB annually plays parties, concerts, sales openings, fairs, etc - wherever up-beat music is needed. Uptown "Lite" was born due to requests by clients for a good "small" Dixieland band. A great sound with a smaller lineup consisting of piano, bass sax, cornet and banjo. This lineup can vary for example substituting another horn for the piano if a strolling band is needed.
