Voodoo Mountain Zydeco is a Eugene-based Pacific Northwest zydeco band that pounds out the primal-stomp zydeco-stylings of legendary Louisiana button-accordion artists Boozoo Chavis, Beau Jocque, Geno Delafose and the like. This band pumps up that groove-filled Mardi Gras dance-hall music with a powerful amplified squeezebox, soulful saxophones and a ripping rubboard that augments the monstrous beat laid down by a serious-as-a-heart-attack fatback-drums/bass combo. As if that isn't enough, along with the zydeco tunes there are always a few jump-blues and swing/shuffles mixed into each set (featuring red-hot electric and slide guitars!), providing a jambalaya of hip-shaking mayhem.
