The 3rd Program
The 3rd Program originally formed under the name Maybe Tonite in 1990, in Rowland Heights, Ca. Originally coming together as an electric "Classic Rock" cover band to play all the great songs that the band mates grew up on.
While rehearsing, the band found that they had a great sound on the acoustic covers that they performed, and their 3 part harmonies brought them resounding praise from audiences everywhere they played.
With a repertoire of songs from artists like the Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, James Taylor, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, The Doobie Brothers and many other great Acoustic Rock artists of the 60's and 70's the band was always very well received.
With individual musical influences that range from the mighty Led Zeppelin to Crosby, Stills and Nash, the band had something to offer everyone of every age.
After deciding to rename the band in 2007, The new 3rd Program, is currently comprised of original members brothers Guitarist/Vocalist Ray Chavez, Drummer Vince "VC" Chavez, and Lead Voalist Michael Aguilar. With the addition of Rhythym Guitarist/Bassist/Vocalist Steven Radice (Rad-iche) Maybe Tonite/The 3rd Program is complete! With a successful 10 year run entertaining audiences up and down the West Coast the band is looking forward to the future!
"People love the music we perform, and they constantly tell us that they like our versions of the great cover songs we do better than the original artists, which is extremely flattering" says Lead Vocalist Michael Aguilar, "But there is really not a whole lot of new music that reflects what people go through as they mature, and "social consciousness" in music is just not politically correct these days! That's the void we want to fill."
As Lead Guitarist Ray Chavez remarks," We want to perform music that matters." "As we grew up things were changing, the social climate was HOT! It's about time adults have an opportunity to enjoy the music they grew up on again!"
The 3rd Program has had the good fortune to play some great venues over the last 2 years, from Hollywood's historic Whisky A Go Go and Pig N' Whistle to The Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach, and Stubrik's in Fullerton, CA, always pleasing their audiences at every stop.
As Roger Varian, President and Founder of Artist Integrity Music commented after a 3rd Program performance, “David Crosby and the boys would be proud of you guys!” Mission accomplished!
