Marie-Louise & Jazz Habit
Marie-Louise & Jazz Habit ~~ Smokin' Vintage Jazz & Blues!!
(in jazz slang)
Keeping vintage music alive while spicing things up with hot jump, cool blues and even some crazy funk, is Jazz Habit's bag. Introducing Wayne Karol on keys, Peter Ilde on the horn, C. Miano on guitar, Bill Lanphier on Bass, Rex Vector on skins and Marie-louise Clark on vocals. These hep cats love to send their audiences – big smiles and happy feet.
They have gig'd at San Francisco's renowned Purple Onion, Martuni's, and Octavia Lounge; the wine country's Mount View Hotel, Chateau Souverein Winery and the Village Inn's Summer Jazz Brunch Series; as well as the El Mango in Mexico and more.
Following in her vocalist mother and horn-blowing father's footsteps, Marie-Louise joined the music scene, singing and playing the flute at an early age. A classical-trained vocalist, she later cut her chops at the Jazz School in Berkeley, CA and studied with jazz living-legends Kitty Margolis, Laurie Antonioli, and Madeline Eastman. Marie-Louise digs the standards and weaves scat, creating an 18-karat style of her own with blow your top sass and soul. She solidly swings, belts-out blues, and has been known to radiate rockabilly, croon country and even righteously rock n' roll. Marie-Louise gets down with the best of hot jazz and blues sides, especially her favs sung by the “trilogy of female jazz barnburners” Ella, Sarah and Carmen.
