An active pianist and composer on the Chicago jazz scene, Josh Moshier brings his unique voice to a variety of bands including trumpeter Marquis Hill's Blacktet and the Moshier-Lebrun Collective with saxophonist Mike Lebrun. His music has been profiled on NPR's JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater and cited by the Chicago Tribune for “considerable lyric grace and compositional forethought.” In 2011 Josh premiered his extended work, “The Studs Terkel Project” at the Chicago Cultural Center, commissioned by Chamber Music America's New Jazz Works program and inspired by the writing of the oral historian Studs Terkel. Josh has also worked as a sideman with Milton Suggs, Larry Brown, John Moulder and Dara Tucker.

Josh Moshier is a pianist and composer based in Chicago, IL. Born in Baton Rouge, LA and raised in St. Charles, IL, Josh studied music at Northwestern University. During his senior year at Northwestern, Josh was invited to join the music team for the Oprah Winfrey Show, where he composed music for the show's last two seasons. This led him to the sound department at WMS Gaming, where Josh has worked as a full-time composer/sound designer since 2010. Meanwhile he has collaborated with filmmakers in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York to create original music for some really wonderful projects, including the television pilot Shrink and the short films Running Buddies and Sidewalk. Josh was also a participant in the NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop and the NYU/BMI Commercial Music Workshop.

Josh is an active member of the Chicago music community, performing with Marquis Hill, Chris Madsen, Milton Suggs, John Moulder and many others, and recording a variety of projects. In his own group co-led with Mike Lebrun, he released Joy Not Jaded and The Local Colorists, as well as his Chamber Music America-commisioned work Touch and Go: The Studs Terkel Project. Josh directed the Jazz Ensemble at Wheaton College from 2009-2013, and also served as a piano instructor at Benedictine University from 2008-2010.
